Christmas poem by Jon Hamp

I like this damp and this dark and this cold.
I do not fear it ,
It is the earth
It is old.

I like the scarlet winter moon that rose,
And hid its fire in the winter cloud.

And at this time when question,
raises challenge about worth,
I walk to the hill to follow the line,
of the last curve of the earth.
